Applied Intuition unveils Dana for SDVs, an agentic platform to unify vehicle software development

Applied Intuition launched Dana for Software-Defined Vehicles, an agentic platform that connects tools, data, and workflows across the entire vehicle software lifecycle.

Time reduction for some workflows
from months to days
Scale of modern vehicles

What Happened

Applied Intuition has introduced Dana for Software-Defined Vehicles, an agentic platform that brings AI directly into the vehicle software development lifecycle. The platform connects the tools, data, and engineering workflows that modern vehicle programs depend on, letting engineers use AI agents across everything from requirements and architecture to code and validation. The company says modern SDVs demand not just intelligent software but intelligent engineering systems, and that Dana was built to make the development workflow itself agent-operable.

Today's OEMs are typically organized into specialized teams: systems engineers define requirements, software engineers implement features, validation teams verify them, and integration teams assemble everything. Deploying even a simple feature often means navigating disconnected tools, development environments, validation systems, and supplier workflows. Dana aims to unify these silos by preserving engineering context across every stage, from original requirement through architecture, implementation, and validation, so agents understand where a feature came from, how it was implemented, and how it should be validated.

Domain experience

10 yearsyears

Applied Intuition's deep domain experience in the auto industry is built into Dana, with engineering experience and guardrails baked into the platform.

As an example, validating brake control modules today can require work across requirements, architecture, code, multiple ECUs, simulation, hardware, and the vehicle itself. With Dana, a single developer can compress that entire process into a single workflow, reading and evaluating requirements, reasoning across software architecture, working with code in reproducible cloud environments, validating changes in software-in-the-loop and hardware-in-the-loop environments, and ultimately testing the same software on a real vehicle. The same workflow applies to ADAS, digital infotainment, vehicle operating systems, OTA updates, sensor integration, and energy management, and extends beyond passenger vehicles to trucks, mining equipment, construction machinery, agricultural vehicles, and defense platforms.

Dana for SDVs capabilities
  • Requirements and architecture are offered as code rather than locked in local legacy tools
  • Development and software-in-the-loop run in connected cloud environments
  • Agents get native access to every stage of the workflow, with context preserved across the lifecycle
  • Supports validation in software-in-the-loop and hardware-in-the-loop environments, plus testing on a real vehicle
We built Dana to help unify these silos and add in an agentic layer to the overall lifecycle, so each engineer doesn't need to be an expert across the entire process to increase overall output.

Previously from Applied Intuition, Inc.

Applied Intuition launched Dana in July 2026 as an agentic platform that unifies data, simulation, and validation to accelerate physical AI development. The company also had previously demonstrated an AI-native development environment with Nissan that compressed software development from months to minutes. Today's announcement applies the Dana platform specifically to vehicle software development, building on that earlier platform launch and the Nissan demonstration.

Why this matters

Software-defined vehicles rely on millions of lines of code and thousands of engineers, but disconnected tools force teams to spend more time moving information than shipping software. Dana applies AI agents across the whole development lifecycle, so work that once took months across multiple teams can be compressed to days for one developer. That could speed up how automakers deliver features like driver assistance, infotainment, OTA updates, and energy…

Terms in This Story

software-defined vehicle (SDV)
A vehicle whose features and functions are primarily controlled by software rather than fixed hardware, enabling over-the-air updates and new capabilities after purchase.
agentic platform
A software platform that uses AI agents, or autonomous AI programs, to perform multi-step tasks across a workflow with limited human supervision.
software-in-the-loop (SIL)
A testing method where vehicle software runs in a simulated environment instead of on real hardware, allowing rapid validation.
hardware-in-the-loop (HIL)
A testing method where real vehicle hardware is connected to a simulator to test software under realistic conditions.
