BYD Denza Plans September Debut for All-Electric N8L SUV Featuring Powered 208-Liter Frunk
BYD's premium sub-brand Denza will release an all-electric variant of its large N8L six-seater SUV in September 2026, expanding the vehicle's powertrain lineup beyond its current plug-in hybrid platform.

What Happened
Li Hui, the brand head of Denza, confirmed on social media platform Weibo that a pure electric edition of the N8L six-passenger SUV will debut in September. Promotional teasers show that the battery-powered edition incorporates a 208-liter motorized front trunk fitted with a covered drainage valve, allowing outdoor equipment, beach gear, or soiled items to be hosed down and washed cleanly inside the vehicle.
Until now, the N8L has been sold exclusively as a plug-in hybrid. The PHEV variant was originally released in October 2025 at 299,800 yuan and subsequently replaced in June with a flash-charging edition priced from 319,800 yuan ($47,160). That model incorporates an 800-volt electrical system and a 75.26 kWh second-generation Blade Battery capable of reaching a 430 km CLTC electric range and charging from 10% to 97% capacity in nine minutes.
Spanning 5,200 mm in total length with a 3,075 mm wheelbase in a 2+2+2 seating format, the N8L line includes BYD's e3 chassis platform, DiSus-A active air suspension, and the God's Eye 5.0 driver-assistance package. The pure-EV variant is expected to leverage BYD's latest generation Blade cell chemistry and ultra-fast charging capabilities.
