What Happened
Donkervoort Automobielen has spun off its Ex-Core Technologies division into a standalone company. Ex-Core specializes in patented carbon-fiber manufacturing that can produce complex shapes in an environmentally friendly way. The technology, under development since 2007, has already won European Innovation Grants and is used by other industries such as yacht makers, motorsport, bicycles, and drones.
- Retains all strength properties of traditional carbon-fiber
- Removes expensive outer elements
- Environmentally friendly production
- Reduces hidden defects in shapes
- Enables complex shapes once thought impossible
Ex-Core's process uses internal pressure to force fibers into every corner, eliminating the need for extra material for assumed defects. This results in precise, defect-free shapes while maintaining the material's strength and lightness.
Why this matters
Ex-Core's eco-friendly carbon-fiber technique, once exclusive to Donkervoort's sports cars, can now be licensed to other industries, making lightweight, strong parts for everything from yachts to drones.
