What Happened
At the MXGP of Switzerland in Frauenfeld, Fantic Factory Racing's Alberto Forato delivered a strong performance, placing sixth in race 1 and ninth in race 2 to earn seventh overall. The Italian rider adapted well to heavy track conditions with low temperatures and rain, feeling at ease on his Fantic XXF 450.
“A positive GP, with a sixth place in race 1 and ninth in race 2. The speed is building and I am feeling good on my Fantic. It was just a bit of a shame that I struggled at the starts, but we still managed to secure seventh overall. So, all in all, it went well.”
Team-mate Brent Van doninck had a difficult weekend, twisting his ankle in the qualifying race and being forced to sit out both main races. Despite trying to start race 1, the pain was too severe and he withdrew.
“I was doing pretty well in the qualifying race, but with two laps to go I twisted my ankle. I thought it would be okay, but it was pretty painful this morning... I tried to start race 1 but realized pretty quickly I had to come back to the box.”
In the EMX125 class, Fantic's Bertram Thorius and Gennaro Utech showed strong speed but suffered unfortunate outcomes. Thorius was battling for a podium until a technical issue forced a DNF, finishing 11th overall. Utech also crashed out of race 2 after a promising start.
Why this matters
The result confirms Forato's improving form on the Fantic XXF 450 and builds momentum for the team ahead of two Italian rounds.
