What Happened
FEV will showcase its latest technological developments and engineering expertise in software and AI, electrification and humanoid robotics at the 35th Aachen Automotive Colloquium, which runs from October 5 to 7, 2026. For the first time the event takes place at Kurhaus Aachen, and FEV will be exhibiting at Stand 9. The company, headquartered in Aachen, will also demonstrate how these capabilities can be transferred to new application areas, from mobility and aerospace to safety-critical and defense-related systems. The exhibition will be complemented by several expert presentations.
35th
The event runs October 5-7, 2026, at Kurhaus Aachen for the first time, with FEV exhibiting at Stand 9.
FEV.io, the software division of FEV, offers a digital-twin platform that digitally maps entire fleets and individual vehicles down to the component and subcomponent level. It combines live operational and condition data with AI-powered analytics such as predictive maintenance, route optimization and efficiency assessments, and different functions can be integrated according to specific requirements. FEV says this provides the basis for increased vehicle availability and utilization, lower fuel and energy consumption and reduced operating costs, while its scalable, modular architecture enables deployment across different fleets and operating environments. The company will also present GenAISys, a multi-objective AI platform for application-oriented virtual development of BEV concepts.
In electrification, FEV will showcase a battery module developed in cooperation with ProLogium that combines solid-state battery technology with expertise in module design, thermal management, safety and vehicle integration. Other highlights include a latest-generation EDU with a SiC-based traction inverter and an electric machine featuring an amorphous steel stator core and magnets free of heavy rare earth elements. With Aero Alpha, FEV is also transferring electrification concepts to aviation: the sustainable aircraft concept combines a fuel cell, electric propulsion and battery technology with new approaches to aircraft structure and cabin design.
- The FEVBot brings FEV's humanoid robotics activities to life at the stand: the robot moves autonomously, interacts with visitors, presents exhibits and answers questions.
- A disassembled Unitree actuator demonstrates how FEV analyzes and benchmarks the hardware and cost structures of robotic components.
- An autonomous underwater drone demonstrator targets safety-critical and defense-related applications, drawing on systems engineering, trustworthy AI, functional safety, cybersecurity, as well as verification and validation.
- In the commercial vehicle sector, FEV will show its expertise in developing and integrating exterior cab components using exhibits from the Mercedes-Benz eActros.
- FEV will present an innovative cylinder head for heavy-duty hydrogen engines whose finely structured channels near the spark plug and direct injector dissipate heat efficiently, increase stiffness and enable the use of aluminum for H2 heavy-duty applications.
- AI-supported virtual development of BEV concepts.
- Data-driven CAE workflows.
- A permanent-magnet synchronous machine with an amorphous core and magnets free of heavy rare earth elements.
- Human-centered R&D organizations supported by AI.
- Analysis of a lithium-metal battery cell for eVTOL applications.
Previously from FEV
FEV has been building out its AI work in vehicles: in earlier coverage we reported that the company is collaborating with Microsoft to put small language models inside cars on NVIDIA hardware, enabling voice, text and gesture controls that work without an internet connection. That effort sits alongside the broader software and AI portfolio FEV is now presenting in Aachen.

Why this matters
FEV says expertise developed for mobility can be transferred to new applications and markets, so its Colloquium lineup shows where an engineering supplier is taking automotive technology next. The work matters to FEV's OEM customers in cars and commercial vehicles, and to the aerospace, defense and robotics sectors it is courting. Fleet operators and vehicle buyers are the end users affected by the software, batteries and hydrogen hardware on display.
