What Happened
Fiat says the Topolino has continued its international success story in the United States, where customer demand exceeded expectations and many dealers have already sold out of their initial 2026 model-year allocations. To mark the moment, Fiat chose the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show, one of the world's leading yachting events, to unveil a one-of-a-kind Topolino created with Italian yacht maker Sanlorenzo. Fiat frames the car as a new approach to electric mobility — simple, accessible and full of personality — designed to make everyday journeys easier and more enjoyable.

Topolino's share in the first eight months of 2026
The American response builds on Topolino's performance in Europe, where it became the best-selling electric quadricycle in 2025 and maintained its leadership in 2026. Recognition has also come through awards: earlier in the month TIME named the Topolino one of its Best Inventions of 2026 in the Design category, and in the United States it received the 2027 Neighborhood Green Car of the Year award from Green Car Journal, while the Fiat 500e was named 2027 Urban Green Car of the Year. Fiat says the model's all-electric simplicity and Italian design are what let even the smallest vehicles offer a fresh take on accessible, design-driven transportation.
Previously from Fiat
Fiat recently presented the Multiplina concept, a fully electric L7 quadricycle just 3.04 metres long that puts four seats into a package sized between the Topolino and a conventional passenger car. The concept explored how much space Fiat can extract from a very small electric footprint.

Why this matters
The sell-out shows American buyers responding to a very small, low-speed electric vehicle positioned as simple and accessible rather than a full-size car, which matters for dealers who must allocate scarce stock and for rivals in urban electric mobility. Fiat is also tailoring the US offer with new colours, a digital cluster and an Open Air version, so the model's next test is whether demand holds once buyers have more choices.
