Genesis unveils GV90, its first full-size flagship electric SUV

Genesis unveiled its first full-size flagship SUV, the GV90, at the Palace of Fine Arts in San Francisco on Aug. 19, 2026. The production model is based on the NEOLUN concept shown in 2024 and is offered in two variants: the GV90 Neolun with hidden B-pillar coach doors and the standard GV90 with conventional swing doors. It rides on the new eMP platform built exclusively for Genesis flagships. José Muñoz, president and CEO of Hyundai Motor Company, said the GV90 opens a new chapter for Genesis and noted the brand reached one million sales in less than eight years, the fastest luxury brand to do so.

Safety is paramount, with the world's first roof airbag and 12 airbags in total, including dual-depth and seat-cushion airbags, extended curtain airbags to the third row, and enlarged side and knee airbags. An in-cabin monitoring system optimizes airbag and seatbelt control and alerts to improper seat belt usage. The GV90 Neolun replaces the conventional B-pillar with high-strength dual steel beams and a hidden roll cage with a frame 1.5 times thicker than conventional vehicles. The body uses cast and extruded aluminum, ultra-high-strength steel sides, and a slider structure to redirect components away from the battery in frontal collisions. Battery safety is enhanced with Thermal Runaway Protection and a cloud-based BMS that alerts drivers to anomalies.

The GV90 is powered by a 123.5-kilowatt-hour high-voltage battery, the largest in any Hyundai Motor Group EV, and a new motor system producing 657 horsepower and 590 lb-ft of torque. It achieves an estimated range of approximately 310 miles on a single charge and can charge from 10% to 80% in 22 minutes on a 350-kW fast charger. The vehicle features a dual Electronic Limited Slip Differential, multi-chamber air suspension, active rear-wheel steering up to five degrees, and a wireless battery management system.

Inside, the GV90 offers a 127.8-inch wheelbase, flat floor, and slim cockpit. A pop-up 23.6-inch OLED display rises 90mm to become a 24.6-inch screen when parked, and a 25-inch HUD replaces the instrument cluster. Pleos Connect runs on Android Automotive with an app market and the Gleo AI assistant. A New Power Control System removes the start button, and Remote Smart Parking Assist 3, Memory Reversing Assist, a metal-coated heated windshield, radiant heat warmers, Ambient Glow mood lighting, and seats with 15 air cells round out the package. The GV90 Neolun adds 180-degree swiveling front seats, a 25-speaker Bang & Olufsen system with Dolby Atmos, acoustic glass exceeding 19 inches in thickness, and the Executive Suite's wood floor with ondol heating, refrigerator, roll blinds, and six-zone Smart Vision Roof.

The exterior draws inspiration from the Korean moon jar, with a 5,285-millimeter body and 24-inch forged wheels. It comes in 16 exterior colors (13 glossy and three matte) and five interior color combinations for the GV90 and five for the Neolun. An exclusive GV90 Neolun First Edition adds two-tone paint, body-color wheels, wool cashmere, and engraved details in three color combinations. Genesis also announced a brand alignment with Marilyn Monroe's ethos of challenge and innovation. Luc Donckerwolke, President and Chief Creative Officer, said the design pursues a purity shaped by restraint, balance and elegance that never fades.
