Josep García wins double at La Torre d'Oristà to extend Spanish Enduro Championship lead

What Happened
The Spanish Enduro Championship returned after a long summer break at La Torre d'Oristà near Barcelona, where Josep García was again the rider to beat. The KTM España rider had already taken double wins at each of the previous three rounds and started the weekend as the clear favourite. He had recently been crowned World Champion again in August, but arrived with very little time on the bike after arm tendinitis, and a heavy crash in Friday's free practice left him so sore that he needed hospital checks.

“We were coming off a month's break after Wales, the last round of the EnduroGP World Championship, and honestly it hasn't been an easy month. I had tendinitis in my arm that forced me to stop and I could only ride three times. On top of that I had a really bad crash in the training area and on Friday morning we had to go to hospital for some checks to make sure there was nothing serious. We came into the weekend not in the best way, a bit beaten up, but I'm happy with the Super Test. On Saturday I started very well, although halfway through the day I began to feel a physical dip. I wasn't feeling great and I think it was a bit the accumulation of everything. Even so, we managed to win both in the category and in Scratch. Today, Sunday, I woke up well and the goal was to start steady and build up, recover good feelings and give my maximum. That's how it was. I was able to complete the day without any crashes and I'm very happy with today's session. Now we have a couple of weeks to prepare for the Six Days in Portugal, so it's time to train in the sand and arrive there at full strength.”
García now heads to Portugal for the International Six Days of Enduro, his next competitive outing. The Spanish Enduro Championship takes another break of more than a month, returning on the weekend of 31 October and 1 November in Piñor, Ourense. The result leaves him dominating the provisional championship standings, having signed double wins at the three rounds held before La Torre d'Oristà as well as this one.
