What Happened
Kia's Bootcamp program, featured in a new documentary, provides technology education and automotive training to youth in developing countries. The initiative combines vehicle donations, equipment, and industry-academia partnerships to offer customized courses. The program's philosophy of 'priming water' aims to create a sustainable cycle of self-reliance rather than one-time aid. Bootcamp 1.0 in 2025 trained 87 professional mechanics in Mexico, Peru, the Philippines, and Morocco, with 34 already employed at local dealerships. An additional 50 trainees are currently training in Morocco, with expansion planned to Ecuador, South Africa, and Singapore in 2026.

We will continue to expand various programs that provide local partners with opportunities to acquire new technologies at world-class educational facilities while experiencing the Kia brand firsthand.”
Why this matters
The Bootcamp program illustrates how automakers can foster self-reliance in communities through vocational training, creating skilled workers for dealerships and building brand loyalty.
