What Happened
Kia has introduced three major models at the 2026 New York International Auto Show: the redesigned 2027 Seltos compact SUV, the all-electric EV3, and the PV5 WAV wheelchair-accessible vehicle concept. The Seltos now offers a hybrid powertrain for the first time, alongside conventional gasoline and turbocharged engines. The EV3 is Kia's most accessible electric SUV, with an estimated range of up to 320 miles. The PV5 WAV, developed with BraunAbility, is an electric taxi concept designed for wheelchair users.
Gasoline-powered Seltos models go on sale in the US.
Seltos hybrid variant and 2027 Kia EV3 go on sale.
“Kia is rapidly expanding hybrid production across our SUV lineup, increasing production with every new model launch and building toward a full lineup of SUV hybrids by the end of this year.”
The PV5 WAV concept is designed for taxi and rideshare use, featuring a low step height and integrated wheelchair securement systems. Kia and BraunAbility plan to expand real-world evaluation in New York. The concept aligns with Kia's PBV strategy and Americans with Disabilities Act compliance.
