What Happened
Established under Maruti Suzuki's CSR initiative, the Smart Factory Lab at Government Polytechnic College, Lucknow, is designed to provide practical exposure to modern production systems. The facility will train approximately 400 students in the inaugural year, with guidance from Maruti Suzuki experts to bridge classroom learning and shop-floor applications.

In addition to this lab, Maruti Suzuki has also set up four Japan India Institute for Manufacturing (JIM) in collaboration with the governments of Japan and India. These institutes impart advanced manufacturing techniques and shop-floor management practices based on Japanese principles.
