From AutoPulse to MotorClaw: four months of growth
A small automotive newsroom found more search traffic and a place in AI answers over the summer. Five charts trace how that growth unfolded.
MotorClaw began as AutoPulse. The first recorded build dates to 19 May 2026; the MotorClaw name followed on 31 May, and the motorclaw.news domain was configured on 1 June. Through the summer, the publication drew more visits from search and appeared more often in Microsoft’s AI answers.
The site follows the automotive industry through its original sources. Its own history is shorter: a summer of publishing, with a gradually growing stream of search visits.
The first search visits
Google Analytics recorded 38 sessions from unpaid search in its opening June window. By late July, the count had passed 100 per fortnight. It reached 139 in the period ending 6 September, then eased to 120. Search was bringing more visits than it had in June, although growth had levelled off by the end of summer.
Google Analytics’ Organic Search channel includes several search engines. It measures visits arriving on MotorClaw from unpaid search results, so this chart gives us the wider search picture. [1]
Bing kept sending more clicks
Bing’s available record begins on 16 June. In the first complete fortnight shown here, ending 12 July, it sent nine clicks. Each of the next five periods brought more, reaching 94 by 20 September. The rise was gradual at first, then became steeper in August. Bing clicks were the most consistently growing measure in this review.
The two search charts look at different ends of a visit. Bing counts clicks from its results and other supported surfaces. Google Analytics records sessions after people reach the site. Some visits appear in both reports, and the totals will not match exactly. [2]
A place in AI answers
The sharper change came in Bing’s AI Performance report. Citations rose from 69 in the fortnight ending 12 July to 1,229 in early August. The next period slipped to 1,011, before September lifted the count to 2,192.
These are occasions when MotorClaw appeared as a source in supported Microsoft Copilot, Bing and partner answers. They show another route by which the reporting can be encountered. A citation does not establish that someone opened the article, and this report covers a defined set of AI experiences. [3]
The website was being fetched more often
Cloudflare’s records show how often the website was being fetched. Requests rose from 75,283 in the fortnight ending 12 July to 619,150 in the period ending 6 September. The next fortnight fell to 526,673, still well above the July level.
The count includes article pages and the files that load alongside them, as well as crawlers and other automated traffic. It records demand on the website rather than an exact count of readers. [4]
How far each signal moved
Using the same early and late fortnights brings the scale of the changes into view. Unpaid search sessions were 3.3 times the earlier level, Bing clicks 10.4 times, Microsoft-supported AI citations 31.8 times, and Cloudflare requests 7.0 times. The biggest multiplier began with a small citation count, which is why the earlier charts show the actual values as well.
The search figures show MotorClaw receiving more visits by September. Citations grew faster, showing that its articles were also finding a place in answers people receive without necessarily opening a website. Further months will show whether search arrivals pick up again and citation growth holds.
Reading the charts
This review uses June to September as MotorClaw’s first four-month reporting period, with the early dates taken from the site’s development history. The growth multiples compare the two endpoint fortnights: 29 June to 12 July and 7 to 20 September. The shorter final September window is left out of the charts. Bing search and AI data were refreshed through 28 September; no later days were filled with zero. The tools measure different activities, so their counts are neither added nor combined into a single score.
