What Happened

After an exciting and windy Saturday at Golfclub München Eichenried, Austria's Bernd Wiesberger (5 under for the round) and South Africa's Michael Hollick (3 under) share the lead at 13 under par, one stroke ahead of Mexico's Carlos Ortiz. Local hero Thomas Rosenmüller carded the best round of the day (7 under) to climb 46 places into a tie for fourth at 11 under with South Africa's Hennie Du Plessis. Rosenmüller, born in Munich, has a chance to become only the second German winner of the tournament, following Martin Kaymer in 2008.

Each eagle triggers a €1,000 donation from BMW Group to the Philipp Lahm Foundation for summer camps.

The BMW International Open is a fantastic tournament for us. The whole team takes excellent care of us players, which is why everyone includes it in their tournament calendars – and as a result, the field is always superb. It would be nice if I could join the great champions. But there are still 18 holes to play.
Bernd Wiesberger, co-leader

No player has yet scored a hole-in-one on the 17th, so the Hole-in-One Award – a new BMW X5 M60e xDrive plug-in hybrid – remains unclaimed. The new BMW X5, which had its world premiere earlier this week at BMW Group Plant Spartanburg in the US, is being shown to the German public for the first time at the tournament. It features technical innovations and design inspired by the Neue Klasse.

Previously from BMW

Earlier in the tournament, South African Hennie Du Plessis held a one-shot lead after two rounds, while Carlos Ortiz led after the second day's play. The current leaders, Wiesberger and Hollick, have now overtaken them heading into the final round.

Why this matters

The BMW International Open is Germany's most prestigious golf tournament, combining sport with BMW's corporate citizenship through the Eagles for Education initiative, which donates €1,000 per eagle to children's summer camps. The final round schedule change highlights weather challenges, and the hole-in-one prize showcases the new BMW X5 plug-in hybrid.
