What Happened
On October 27, on the eve of the BAIC FOTON Africa Partners Conference, the inauguration and first training session of the BAIC FOTON Africa Regional Training Center were held in South Africa. BAIC FOTON CEO Lu Zhenghua, BAIC FOTON International President Wu Zongtian and other leaders attended with local partners. The company said the center will be centered on South Africa and extend across the African market, building a multi-level training system to share technical standards and service experience with local teams. Training began at the same time as the inauguration ceremony.

“Service training is important support for BAIC FOTON to improve its Africa regional operating system and deepen localized operations.”
Wang Zhuozhong, VP of BAIC FOTON International, introduced the center's background and development plan, stressing the role of professional talent development in improving regional service capability, while local partner representatives discussed service cooperation and future prospects. BAIC FOTON said it will also strengthen dealers' service management capabilities in spare parts stocking, maintenance processes and response efficiency, pushing the regional service system toward standardization and professionalism. After the ceremony, Lu Zhenghua and his delegation toured the center and delivered opening remarks, learning about its teaching facilities and training environment. During the event, he and others also held discussions with local dealers and customers on regional business.
The center is part of a wider overseas training push: since the beginning of 2026, BAIC FOTON has conducted nearly 100 specialized capability-building training sessions across key global markets. The company cited hands-on disassembly of heavy-duty truck engines in Argentina, fault diagnosis for all-electric buses in Türkiye, and a flexible model in Uruguay where five rotating groups completed intensive training in a single day. BAIC FOTON said the aim is to turn headquarters' technical standards into the ability of local frontline personnel to rapidly diagnose and repair vehicles in real operating conditions, and it framed the center as part of a broader push to improve its localized operating system in Africa by combining manufacturing, spare parts supply and training resources.
Previously from Beiqi Foton Motor Co., Ltd.
BAIC FOTON has been pushing its internationalization strategy beyond China: in October 2026 the company used the Paris Motor Show to show its CAVAN C1 battery-electric van and eAUMARK battery-electric light-duty truck and to announce its official entry into the French market.

Why this matters
As BAIC FOTON's African model line-up widens, the company says different vehicles and operating conditions have created a broad range of sales, maintenance and technical support demands. The center is meant to train local professionals so dealers and service providers can diagnose and repair vehicles faster — affecting technicians, dealers and fleet customers in the region.
