Fiat unveils Multiplay 3-in-1 concept in Paris, blending MPV, SUV and pick-up in 4.45 metres
Fiat has unveiled Multiplay, a 4.45-metre concept that fuses MPV space, SUV character and pick-up practicality in one vehicle whose rear end transforms.
- 4.45 meters
- 6+1
- 4 seats plus an open bed
- up to 2 bicycles
What Happened
Fiat unveiled Multiplay on the evening of 11 October 2026 at the Stellantis Night Before event, held on the eve of the opening of the 2026 Paris Motor Show. At 4.45 metres long, the concept combines the space efficiency of an MPV, the character of an SUV and the versatility of a pick-up. Fiat describes it as a laboratory of solutions for tomorrow's mobility and says it is not a preview of a specific production model. The concept was presented to representatives of the international media by Olivier Francois, company strategic advisor for Stellantis, and Arnaud Belloni, CEO of the Fiat, Abarth and Lancia brands and chief marketing officer for Europe. It addresses a practical question: how can a single vehicle meet the needs of families juggling work, school, sport and outdoor activities whose space and cargo requirements can change even within the same day?
4.45meters
Multiplay packs MPV, SUV and pick-up attributes into this footprint.
Multiplay's adaptability starts with the C-pillar Metamorfosi architecture, a rear module that slides longitudinally along dedicated guides. In just a few movements it transforms an enclosed family vehicle into a pick-up. In the family configuration the cabin offers six seats plus an additional flexible element, the Petsenger seat. In the pick-up configuration, four seats are combined with an open bed for bicycles, sports and outdoor equipment and bulky items. The rear spoiler follows the same principle: it rotates to become an integrated bike rack that, in the pick-up configuration, can carry up to two bicycles without a dedicated external accessory.
The Fiat 600 Multipla could seat six people in around 3.5 metres.
The Multipla offered six seats across two rows in a vehicle less than four metres long.
Multiplay continues that exploration of space through an architecture that can adapt to different uses.
- The Petsenger seat is a modular unit that explores different uses: a mounting point for a child car seat, a dedicated space for a pet, a small table or a storage compartment.
- An outer section of the Petsenger seat cushion can be detached and used as a leash, while a compartment in the door houses a folding bowl.
- Storage pockets, elastic bands and multifunctional elements complete the organisation of the space.
- The rear compartment can accommodate up to two children and even an adult when needed, giving children their own zone within easy reach and view of parents.
- The front passenger seat can transform into the Sunseat, a lounge-style configuration facing the rear that uses the dashboard as a backrest to create a chaise longue beneath the panoramic roof when the vehicle is parked.
- Large glass surfaces, generous side windows and a panoramic roof enhance natural light and the sense of space.
The colour design draws inspiration from the watermelon, evoking the Italian summer and its spirit of togetherness: bright green bodywork recalls the rind, while red and pink cabin tones echo the fruit inside, with a soft pink floor and a pixelated colour gradient running from the Petsenger seat to the Kids Area in shades of turquoise. Most soft components use monomaterial textile made with a no-stitch 3D knit process that reduces waste, while the kids and pets areas use waterproof monomaterial finishes. The horizontal dashboard strip is inspired by the Mediterranean horizon, and a hidden display integrated into the dashboard disappears from view when the vehicle is switched off. After sharing the story behind the concept, Olivier Francois symbolically handed the keys to Arnaud Belloni, marking a new chapter for the brand and connecting Fiat's heritage of ingenuity with its vision for the future.
“Multiplay expresses a quality we want to bring to FIAT's next chapter: the ability to make the car useful in everyday life. Families' needs are changing, and this concept allows us to explore solutions that change with them. It is a laboratory of ideas for the future of the Brand, centered on space, versatility and the Italian character that makes FIAT instantly recognizable.”
Previously from Fiat
Fiat had already said it would use the Paris Motor Show to open a new brand chapter, turning its stand into a contemporary Italian "Piazza". The brand had also announced that the Grizzly and Grizzly Fastback would make their public debut at the event.

Why this matters
Multiplay is a concept, not a production car, so it is not a vehicle buyers can order. Fiat says it is a laboratory of ideas and a testing ground for future innovations, so it signals the direction the brand may take on space and versatility for families. The Paris debut also marks a handover, with Olivier Francois passing the keys to new brand CEO Arnaud Belloni.
