Firefly adds a 60 kWh battery option, taking its CLTC rating from 420 km to 560 km
Nio's small-car brand now sells a long-range pack that pushes rated range to 560 km, and owners of the existing 42 kWh version can move up to it for good.

What Happened
Firefly, the small-car brand under Nio, introduced a 60 kWh battery on October 23, 2026, at an event in Shanghai. Cars fitted with the bigger pack are rated at 560 km on China's CLTC test cycle. Buyers can now choose between that long-range unit and the 42 kWh standard pack, so the same model can be specified for short city trips or for longer journeys.

- 140 km, about 33% more
Prices for the 60 kWh car begin at 136,800 yuan when paid in full. Choosing Nio's BaaS battery-rental scheme drops the purchase price to 79,800 yuan, with the battery itself billed at 599 yuan each month. Under that arrangement the pack is rented rather than bought with the vehicle.
- Free Edition: 136,800 yuan outright, 79,800 yuan under BaaS, 599 yuan monthly
- Glow Edition: 142,800 yuan outright, 85,800 yuan under BaaS, 599 yuan monthly
- Halo Edition: 150,300 yuan outright, 93,300 yuan under BaaS, 599 yuan monthly
- With the 42 kWh pack the same trims are 119,800, 125,800 and 133,300 yuan outright, and the BaaS fee is 399 yuan monthly
Firefly said the car was laid out from the start around standardized battery modules, so packs of different capacity could be fitted later. That design lets people who already own a Firefly move up permanently to the 60 kWh unit without trading in the whole vehicle, drawing on Nio's battery-swap network. The brand frames the result as a car that can be charged, swapped or upgraded.
Why this matters
The move gives Chinese buyers a choice between a cheaper standard pack and a longer-range one on the same car, and the battery-rental route trims the upfront outlay to 79,800 yuan. Owners who already bought a Firefly are not stranded, because the pack can be swapped into cars already on the road using Nio's battery-swap network.
