Geely unveils AI-managed charging system with 2,250 kW station
Geely Auto Group has revealed an AI-coordinated charging system whose new station reaches 2,250 kW, paired with a battery that went from 10% to 97% in 8 minutes 40 seconds in company testing.

What Happened
Geely Auto Group has introduced Geely Smart Charging, an AI-powered charging setup announced on 24 September 2026. Two pieces of hardware arrive with it: the company's fifth-generation Smart Charging Station, capable of 2,250 kW at peak, and a Next-Gen Ultra Short Blade Battery. A software layer called Xingrui PowerMind ties the pieces together. The group presents the package as its newest step in fast charging.
2,250kW
This is the rated maximum for the newly launched high-output unit.
At the centre of the system sits Xingrui PowerMind, an AI model for energy management that Geely Auto Group built together with StepFun. PowerMind links the car, its battery, the charging station, the cloud, the electricity grid and energy storage. Coordinating all of those lets charging do more than simply push power into a pack, Geely says. The company describes the result as charging that goes beyond conventional power delivery.
- 4 minutes 30 seconds
- 8 minutes 40 seconds
The charge times were measured in real-world testing of the pack fitted to two Geely models, the Zeekr 001 and the Lynk & Co 10. Going from 10% to 70% took 4 minutes 30 seconds, and the cell reached 97% after 8 minutes 40 seconds. Geely describes the result as its quickest production-ready charging performance so far.
Why this matters
Charging speed is a headline selling point for electric cars, and Geely is using it to promote models such as the Zeekr 001 and Lynk & Co 10, the two vehicles named in its test results. The pitch also combines hardware with software that manages the battery, the grid and energy storage together, rather than treating the charging station on its own. Buyers of those models are the group most directly affected by the performance Geely is claiming.
Terms in This Story
- kW
- Kilowatt, a unit of power equal to 1,000 watts, used here to describe how quickly a charging station can deliver electricity.
- energy storage system
- Batteries or similar equipment that hold electricity so it can be released later, often used to smooth demand on the grid.
- AI model
- A software system trained on data that makes predictions or decisions, in this case to help manage when and how charging happens.
