What Happened
Kia is supplying 200 electric PV5 Cargo vans to Korea Post, which runs the country's postal network. The vans were tailored for mail collection and delivery, and the automaker says they will reach post offices around South Korea in stages beginning this month. Kia announced the handover on September 11.

To be placed at post offices around the country in stages from September 2026.
The van is built on E-GMP.S, an electric platform developed for purpose-built vehicles. Its lowered floor is meant to cut the physical toll of climbing in and out dozens of times a day on a delivery round. Advanced driver assistance systems round out the package, which Kia says makes for safer and easier working conditions.
Before taking the order, Kia ran the PV5 Cargo in live postal operations for about two months. Vehicles went to hub post offices under each of the nine regional postal administrations between September and November last year. On-site briefings were held for fleet managers and drivers, and the trial judged how well the van fitted day-to-day delivery rounds. Ideas gathered from the field were then built into the version supplied to Korea Post.
- Aluminium cargo floor
- Flat loading surface
- A device that guards the doors against damage while goods are loaded and unloaded
- Changes requested by postal workers who used the vans during the trial
Kia says the deal goes beyond handing over hardware. The company intends to help Korea Post move its fleet to electric power, starting with training for the people who manage the vehicles. Charging and servicing arrangements matched to postal operations are part of the package too.
Kia puts the PV5 Cargo into live postal operations for roughly two months at hub post offices run by the nine regional postal administrations.
Kia announces the supply deal and says 200 vans will go to post offices nationwide from this month.
Delivery begins, with the 200 vans placed at post offices in stages.
Why this matters
Public fleets are a visible proving ground for electric commercial vehicles, and this order shows Kia's purpose-built line reaching a national customer. It directly affects Korea Post's delivery staff, who will work with vans shaped by their own colleagues' feedback, and fleet managers who are promised dedicated EV training and charging support.
