MG SELECT separates battery cost from Cyberster and M9 purchase price
MG SELECT has introduced a battery-as-a-service option for its Cyberster and M9 electric models, lowering their upfront prices while adding a per-kilometre battery rental.
- 2026
What Happened
MG SELECT has launched a battery-as-a-service programme for the Cyberster and M9 in India. The Cyberster is priced at Rs 72.49 lakh under the scheme and the M9 at Rs 69.99 lakh, with an additional battery rental of Rs 8 per kilometre for either model.
The programme separates the vehicle price from the battery component rather than changing the cars' powertrains or equipment. MG SELECT says the offer gives luxury-EV buyers another ownership structure and will be supported through its 15 experience centres in 14 Indian cities.
Why this matters
The structure tests whether a lower entry price can make high-priced EVs easier to consider, while shifting part of ownership cost into usage-linked payments.
