Applied Intuition and HUMAIN Plan World's Largest Autonomous Trucking Network in Saudi Arabia

Saudi Arabia is set to launch the world's largest autonomous trucking network, with Applied Intuition and PIF company HUMAIN deploying thousands of trucks by 2030.

What Happened

Applied Intuition and HUMAIN, a PIF company delivering full-stack AI capabilities, announced a strategic collaboration to deploy thousands of autonomous trucks along Saudi Arabia's key logistics corridors by 2030. The companies say the network would be the largest autonomous trucking network in the world and mark the first major initiative under HUMAIN's physical AI strategy. They will establish a foundational framework for autonomy across the Kingdom, with future phases exploring expansion into robotaxis, ports, mining, and other industries. The corridors connect ports, industrial cities, and distribution hubs across long stretches of highway.

How autonomous trucks could help freight
  • They don't stop when a driver's shift ends
  • They don't get tired or distracted
  • They optimize every mile for fuel efficiency
  • They continuously monitor vehicle health
Autonomous trucking is just the beginning. Once you have the data, infrastructure, and expertise to deploy physical AI at national scale, you can extend that intelligence to everything that moves. And when goods and people move safer, faster, and at lower cost, the benefits compound across the entire economy. That's the opportunity we see in Saudi Arabia.
Qasar Younis, co-founder and CEO of Applied Intuition

The centerpiece of the collaboration is Applied Intuition's Self-Driving System (SDS), together with Vehicle OS and other vehicle-intelligence technologies. SDS was launched in 2025 with a focus on passenger vehicles but was quickly extended to mining, construction, and trucking, and it already operates on roads in the U.S., Europe, and Japan, where Applied Intuition runs L4 trucking with Isuzu Motors. The platform works on any machine that moves — on highways, urban streets, mines, and farms, and on land, in the air, and at sea — and data from every mile driven feeds back into Applied Intuition's simulation and development infrastructure.

Saudi Arabia's extreme heat, blowing sand, and long-haul routes will push the platform to its limits, but Applied Intuition has already operated in similarly challenging environments through a mining partnership with Komatsu, using Vehicle OS, autonomous haulage, and collision avoidance systems. Applied Intuition has opened an office in Riyadh and is hiring a local team to work directly on the program, part of a long-term commitment to employment and technical capabilities in the Kingdom. The office opens with trucks already on the ground and is expected to create high-value jobs to deploy, operate, and scale autonomous fleets. The companies say what they build in the Kingdom could become a blueprint for a world where intelligent infrastructure makes entire economies safer, more productive, and more prosperous.

Key dates
  1. 2025

Applied Intuition launches SDS, initially for passenger vehicles, then extends it to mining, construction, and trucking.

  2. 2030

Target for deploying thousands of autonomous trucks across Saudi Arabia's key logistics corridors.

Previously from Applied Intuition, Inc.

Applied Intuition has been building the underlying technology for large-scale autonomy. In July 2026 it launched Dana, an agentic platform designed to accelerate physical AI development, and in August 2026 its simulation platform earned TÜV SÜD's VIVALDI certification, independently verifying it for virtual validation of automated driving systems.

Why this matters

Autonomous trucks can run around the clock without tiring, which could make freight safer and more efficient across Saudi Arabia's long highway corridors that connect ports, industrial cities, and distribution hubs. The collaboration is also creating local jobs, as Applied Intuition opens a Riyadh office and hires a team, and future phases could spread the technology to robotaxis, ports, mining, and other industries.

Terms in This Story

Physical AI
Artificial intelligence that controls machines that move and operate in the real world, such as trucks, cars, and mining equipment.
Level 4 (L4) autonomy
A standard of self-driving capability where a vehicle can operate without human intervention under specific conditions or in defined areas.
PIF
The Public Investment Fund, Saudi Arabia's sovereign wealth fund that invests in companies and projects.
