BAIC’s Arcfox electric vehicles will use sodium-ion batteries supplied by China’s Xupai from 2027, according to Automotive News Europe.

What Happened
Xupai’s sodium-ion cells are scheduled for BAIC’s Arcfox EV programme from 2027.
The batteries are intended for low-voltage auxiliary systems in the vehicles, rather than the main traction pack. That use case places greater weight on cost and temperature tolerance than on maximum energy density.
