What Happened
BMW is marking the launch of the fifth generation of the BMW X5 and the first all-electric BMW iX5 with two separate ranges of accessories: BMW M Performance Parts that accentuate the dynamic look, and functional BMW accessories that expand transport and utilisation possibilities. The functional range includes the new BMW Aero roof boxes, holders and adapters for the Travel & Comfort System, BMW all-weather floor mats and the BMW luggage compartment mat. Both ranges are available from launch.
- Front trims with a sporty carbon outfit that refine the surfaces inside the illuminated frame of the redesigned BMW Iconic Glow kidney grille
- Three-part front splitter in carbon fibre, combining aerodynamic functionality with low weight
- Roof spoiler in black high-gloss
- Flow blades rear in carbon fibre, left and right of the rear diffuser
- Exterior mirror caps and rear diffuser made from the fibre composite aramid
The M Performance exterior mirror caps and the M Performance rear diffuser are made from the fibre composite aramid, which is like carbon in terms of appearance, structure and strength but can be penetrated by electromagnetic waves. That property means the sensors in the exterior mirrors and the antennas for operating the tailgate automatically remain fully functional. The M Performance Parts range also includes summer and winter complete wheels in sizes from 21 to 23 inches. The highlight is the 23-inch M Performance light alloy wheel Y-spoke 1110 M Bicolor in Jet Black, gloss milled. For the future BMW M Performance model with a V8 engine, an M Performance Sound silencer system is planned for specific markets outside Europe, and matching M Performance carbon fibre tail pipe finishers enhance the optics of the standard exhaust system for the V8 engine and the BMW X5 M60e xDrive.

- 450 litres, 30 litres more than its predecessor
- 550 litres, 30 litres more than its predecessor
Varying combinations of the matching BMW Aero and Flex luggage bags make use of the volume of the Aero 350, 450 and 550 roof boxes to ensure optimised luggage handling. Two BMW Flex transport box luggage bags fit in the BMW rear box, which is mounted on a BMW rear cycle carrier and offers 300 litres of storage space. The BMW luggage bags are made from durable ballistic polyester with nubuck accents and come with ergonomic handles, a padded shoulder strap, side and interior pockets, as well as a separate shoe bag.
- The standard Travel & Comfort System is located on the back of the front seat and uses a magnetic holder for smartphones
- The Travel & Comfort tablet holder and tablet holder Pro are available as optional extras; the Pro version adds a joint for more adjustment options and a surface with silver accents
- The separately available Travel & Comfort smartphone adapter clicks into both tablet holders, can accommodate smartphones up to 7 inches and keeps the connections accessible
- Waterproof BMW all-weather floor mats for front and rear, plus a waterproof BMW luggage compartment mat, protect the interior and the luggage compartment in bad weather
Why this matters
The X5 is now in its fifth generation, and the iX5 is BMW's first fully electric version of the model, so buyers can choose between combustion and electric versions of the same SUV. Because the M Performance Parts and accessories are available from launch, personalisation, extra luggage capacity and rear-seat add-ons can be ordered together with the car instead of being added later.
