What Happened
MAN Truck & Bus SE said it again achieved a robust result in the first nine months of 2026, with all major key figures above the prior-year period. Revenue rose 4% to €10.34bn, unit sales climbed 5% to 75,395 vehicles and order intake grew 8% to 78,610 units. The adjusted operating result reached €639m, up from €557m a year earlier, and the adjusted operating return rose to 6.2% from 5.6%. Electric mobility continued to gain momentum with a 36% sales increase, although MAN notes the volume is still at a low level.

- 75,395 in 9M 2026 vs 71,672 in 9M 2025 (+5%)

“You can rely on MAN. We have now been running steadily for almost four years, continuously delivering robust results and generating strong cash flow. That was also true in the first nine months of 2026. The third-quarter result was mainly influenced by low sales and production volume during the summer break. In the short term we are affected by temporary restrictions at a supplier of truck components. Minor effects are to be expected here in the fourth quarter of 2026.”
Truck sales rose 8% in the first nine months, driven in particular by strong performance in European core markets outside Germany, where market share climbed to its highest level in the past seven years. Sales in Germany, MAN's particularly important home market, stagnated compared with the prior year. Order intake in Germany picked up significantly in the third quarter, rising 19%, helped among other things by a very successful IAA in September. The MAN TGE van stayed on a record course with 23,390 units sold after nine months, up nearly 3% on the previous best year 2025, and its order intake also reached a record level; since 2016, 200,000 MAN TGE units have been produced.
In a highly competitive environment the bus business could not hold the very strong results of the prior-year period, with deliveries down 6%. Final preparations are currently under way for the start of series production of the all-electric MAN eCoach long-distance coach, and the first vehicles are due to roll off the line this year. In the first nine months MAN delivered 1,480 fully electric vehicles — 805 eTrucks and 675 eBuses — a 36% increase. More than 3,300 eBuses are already on European roads in daily line service, and the fleet of around 1,500 MAN eTrucks sold to customers has covered more than 60 million kilometres at an average consumption of 95 kWh per 100 kilometres.
- Trucks: 47,385 units, up 8% from 44,047
- Buses: 4,620 units, down 6% from 4,898
- MAN TGE: 23,390 units, up 3% from 22,727
- Book-to-bill ratio: 1.0, unchanged from 1.0
- Revenue mix: new vehicles €6,291m (+4%), vehicle services €2,277m (+4%), other €1,772m (+1%)
At the IAA in Hanover MAN presented its entire continuous electric truck and van portfolio between 4 and 50 tonnes for the first time. It ranges from the electrified TGE transporter, through the light and medium eTGL and eTGM series for distribution transport or municipal applications, to the heavy eTGS and eTGX series. The company describes its electrification business as growing strongly, though still from a low level.
Previously from MAN Truck & Bus
Earlier this month we reported that MAN built its 200,000th TGE van at its Września plant in Poland, hitting the milestone in the model's tenth year after doubling its production pace. We also covered MAN's IAA 2026 line-up, which brought an updated truck range with predictive cruise, a new generation of emergency braking and turning assistants and 50 more charging sites.

Why this matters
MAN is a major European truck and bus manufacturer, so its nine-month figures show how commercial-vehicle demand is developing in a year when the German home market stagnated but other European core markets grew. The numbers also matter to the supplier network: MAN says it is currently hit by temporary restrictions at a supplier of truck components and expects minor effects in the fourth quarter of 2026.
