What Happened

Bosch Smart Home celebrates ten years at IFA 2026, tracing its evolution from individual connected devices into an integrated system that combines comfort, security, and energy management. The company says new capabilities for indoor climate, energy usage, and home security demonstrate how modern technology can deliver targeted support and real value in daily life. For users, the result is less effort and more time for what matters, thanks to a home that operates reliably.

The optional Home+ service, which already included multisystem control, expanded cloud storage, and intelligent noise detection, now adds two indoor climate features: Optimised Heat Distribution and Demand-Optimised Heating. The price remains unchanged at €4.99 per month (incl. 19% VAT). With the addition, Home+ integrates comfort, targeted heating, and system control into a single expanded service.

Optimised Heat Distribution targets uneven heating. In many homes, radiators near the heating circuit pump get too much flow while distant ones get too little, causing temperature imbalance, wasted energy, and flow noise. The Smart Radiator Thermostats II [+M] automate hydronic balancing and continuously analyze heating operation in real time. This ensures each radiator receives exactly the required heat, resulting in uniform room temperatures, fewer chilly or overheated rooms, lower energy use, and quieter operation without manual intervention.

Demand-Optimised Heating connects individual thermostats directly to the central heat generator. By linking heat pumps (via Bosch Connect Key K40 or Buderus MX400) with smart radiator thermostats or 230V room thermostats, the system predicts heating needs and dynamically adjusts flow temperature, generating heat only when needed. Customised schedules and automation routines further support demand-based control while letting each room be set individually. The whole heating system, even with multiple circuits, can be controlled centrally through one app, and with a compatible Bosch or Buderus heat pump it can also provide active cooling via underfloor heating on warm days.

Eyes+ is a new add-on service for all Bosch Smart Home indoor and outdoor cameras that provides intelligent person recognition. During setup, it captures multiple images of a person's head from various angles and generates an encrypted digital feature profile stored in the Bosch Cloud that cannot be reconstructed into an image. The profile is used only to distinguish known from unknown people; captured images are deleted except one retained to display the known person in the app. Users receive push notifications only for relevant events, can assess situations with a preview image, and are alerted when loved ones arrive home.

A special version of the Radiator Thermostat II [+M] PRO is available exclusively through professional installers. With this variant, Optimised Heat Distribution and Demand-Optimised Heating are permanently enabled by default during installation. For end customers, the total cost of the optimisation measure, including hardware and professional installation, is eligible for subsidy under the Federal Funding for Efficient Buildings (BEG) programme.

Why this matters

For homeowners, the new Home+ features promise more even room temperatures, lower heating energy use, and quieter radiators without manual balancing, while Eyes+ reduces unnecessary camera alerts. The updates show how smart-home devices are evolving from standalone gadgets into one integrated system for climate, comfort, and security managed through a single app. In Germany, the PRO thermostat installation may be subsidised under the BEG programme, lowering the upfront cost.

Terms in This Story

hydronic balancing
A process that adjusts water flow to each radiator so every room receives the right amount of heat.
flow temperature
The temperature of the water sent from the heat generator to the radiators.
heat pump
A device that transfers heat from outside air, ground, or water into a building for heating and hot water.
BEG
Germany's Federal Funding for Efficient Buildings programme, which provides subsidies for energy-efficiency improvements.
