What Happened
In celebration of the Type 35's 100th anniversary, Club Bugatti France organized a tour from Molsheim to Lyon, retracing the route the cars took to the 1924 Grand Prix de Lyon. The event began on May 13 at Bugatti's premises in Molsheim, where founder Ettore Bugatti started the company in 1909, and concluded in Lyon on May 20.
The Type 35, unveiled in 1924, earned over 2,500 racing victories and is considered Bugatti's most iconic model. Five Type 35s competed in the 1924 Grand Prix at Lyon, marking a new era in motorsport. The tour featured 49 classic cars, including 23 Type 35 examples, one of which raced in 1924.
