What Happened
The 2027 Mustang Mach-E Trail is a new package for Mustang Mach-E Select eAWD, built for the drives that lead to outdoor destinations. It combines specially tuned suspension with front and rear passive struts and springs — giving 10 mm more ride height in front and 15 mm more in the rear than Mustang Mach-E Select and Premium — with hardware carried over from Mustang Mach-E Rally: the steering rack, 19-inch High Gloss Dark Carbonized Gray wheels with as-cast graphics, and Michelin CrossClimate 2 tires. Trail-specific design touches include a Carbon Black lower front fascia and a Mach-E Trail logo on the center armrest. Ford says the package is designed and built at the factory, and is not a limited run or a dealer-installed package.

““Mustang Mach-E Trail gets a suspension adjustment for improved ground clearance, and rides on the same Michelin CrossClimate 2 tires used on Mustang Mach-E Rally for added capability. Together, they make Mustang Mach-E Trail capable for off-pavement driving, whether that's loose gravel, sand, or a two-track dirt road, with a significant traction benefit in winter conditions as well. It's built for all-season, off-pavement excursions, so customers headed to a trailhead, a campsite, or everyday driving through changing weather get real added confidence.””

Select RWD before destination and delivery, bringing the new extended-range Select rear-wheel-drive option under $40,000.
The package also carries gear for the destination. Standard 400W Pro Power Onboard includes outlets in the cargo area and at the rear of the center console, enough to charge personal devices and run smaller accessories such as an electric pump for a paddleboard, camp lights, a fan, or a pump for topping off bike tires. A Clamp On Cross Bar Kit by Thule, compatible with all Mustang Mach-E Trail configurations, is available on the Ford accessories site for carrying bikes, kayaks, gear boxes and more. An optional Interior Protection Package adds all-weather floor mats and a cargo-area protector and can be ordered with the vehicle or bought separately through the Ford accessories site. Trail buyers also get an additional 100,000 Ford Rewards points on top of the 22,000 points all Mustang Mach-E customers receive at purchase, deposited into their Ford account and redeemable toward eligible accessories, parts, merchandise, subscriptions and experiences.
- Extended-range battery is standard across the entire lineup for the first time: 88 kWh of usable capacity on Select and Premium, 91 kWh on GT and Rally.
- A new secondary drive unit (front motor) delivers the same performance as the previous unit at lower cost, supporting the lower entry point with extended-range battery.
- 400W Pro Power Onboard is standard on Mustang Mach-E Trail and available on Premium and GT models, including Mustang Mach-E Rally.
- BlueCruise 1.5 is optional on Select and Premium (via the Tech Pack Lite on Select and the Premium Tech Pack on Premium) and standard on GT and Rally, each with one year plus 90 days of service; because Trail is built on Select, BlueCruise hardware must be selected when ordered and cannot be added later.
- The Ford Connectivity Package and Ford Security Package are standard across the lineup, each with one year of service included and a one-time-purchase option.
- Standard colors are Desert Sand and Shadow Black; extra-cost optional colors are Adriatic Blue Metallic, Eruption Green Metallic, Glacier Gray Metallic, Race Red, Star White Metallic Tri-coat and Velocity Blue Metallic.

Previously from Ford
Ford has been spreading its BlueCruise hands-free highway system across the 2027 lineup. In September 2026 we reported that Ford is adding hands-free highway towing to BlueCruise, debuting on the 2027 F-150 with up to 10,000 pounds of max available towing capacity when properly configured.

Why this matters
Ford says it created the Trail in response to customers who wanted an electric vehicle that could support an active lifestyle and give more confidence on the gravel and dirt roads leading to trailheads, campsites and water. Because it is a factory package on the Select eAWD rather than a separate model or dealer add-on, it gives those buyers a single orderable option, while the wider 2027 update — extended-range batteries standard across the lineup and a $39,995 starting price — touches every Mach-E buyer.
