Kawasaki and Aidea Jointly Develop Ship KARTE System for Centralized Vessel Incident Management
FY2026
What Happened
Incident response in shipping often relies on emails and spreadsheets, leading to scattered information and delayed actions. Recognizing this, Kawasaki and Aidea gathered input from shipping management companies to develop a system that digitizes and centralizes troubleshooting history, enabling stakeholders to collaborate based on shared information.
- Incident chart creation: Each incident is plotted on an individual chart, with information from occurrence to completion centrally managed in chronological order, allowing reuse of troubleshooting kno
- Consolidated communication between stakeholders: Stakeholders communicate on the same chart, replacing fragmented email responses and preventing omissions.
- Integration with alarm data: The system can integrate with Alarm Monitoring Systems (AMS) to support chart creation and initial information gathering from alarms.
Trials are underway with various shipowners and management companies. The system will be improved based on user feedback, and the use of machine learning and generative AI is being considered. The aim is practical use within FY2026 by linking with the Aisea platform.
Why this matters
This system digitizes and centralizes incident response, reducing delays and improving communication among stakeholders, which is crucial for vessel safety and operational efficiency.
