What Happened
The all-electric MAN Lion's Coach E completed its first winter test in northern Sweden near the Arctic Circle and in Erzurum, Turkey. Despite temperatures as low as -30°C, the battery system, charging performance, and thermal management all performed reliably. The test involved nine vehicles, including four Lion's Coach E, covering thousands of test kilometers.
320–480kWh
usable energy capacity for the electric coach.
“Great expectations are placed on our new all-electric coach, and we aim to fully meet them thanks to such intensive tests.”
The successful winter test is a milestone toward series production of the Lion's Coach E, which boasts a range of up to 650 km and seats up to 63 passengers. First vehicles are expected to roll out to selected customers later this year.
Why this matters
This test validates that electric coaches can operate reliably in extreme cold, a key step for their adoption in regions with harsh winters, ensuring year-round serviceability for long-distance travel.
