What Happened
Mercedes-Benz is expanding its charging ecosystem with an intelligent bidirectional charging offer for the German market, developed together with The Mobility House Energy. Under the name MB.CHARGE Home Pro Intelligent, customers can for the first time not only charge their fully electric vehicles but also actively integrate them into the energy system and earn money with the car in everyday life. The package combines an interoperable bidirectional DC wallbox and the Mercedes-Benz Intelligent Pro Eco tariff, while the Mercedes-Benz Charge Home app gives a transparent overview of charging sessions, feed-ins and the resulting credits. The launch covers the fully electric GLC and the new C-Class, followed shortly afterwards by many further electric models including VLE, GLA, EQS, CLA, CLA Shooting Brake and GLB, with the function activated after market launch by over-the-air update depending on the model, and the offer is planned for further selected markets.
- A bidirectional ChargeLine Bidi wallbox from The Mobility House at an introductory price of 1,990 euros instead of the regular 2,990 euros
- Payment for every hour the car is connected to the wallbox at home, whether it is charging, discharging or paused, with no daily, monthly or annual limit
- An annual bonus of more than 500 euros for drivers who plug in for an average of twelve hours a day, making the wallbox investment pay for itself within four years with regular use
- A voucher worth 250 euros for public charging with MB.CHARGE Public

2 million
A joint analysis by The Mobility House Energy and Mercedes-Benz found that two million bidirectional-capable vehicles could avoid nearly half of today's curtailment of renewable energy and cut the electricity system's costs by a three-digit million euro amount.
“Bidirectional charging is for us the next consistent step in electric mobility. We are developing the vehicle from a pure consumer into an active component of the energy system. In this way we combine innovative vehicle technology with a more efficient use of renewable energy and create sustainable added value, for our customers as well as for the energy infrastructure.”
“The electric car is more than a vehicle, it is the battery storage of the future. Together with Mercedes-Benz we are making bidirectional charging suitable for everyday use. Mercedes-Benz customers will in future be able to earn money with their vehicle and lower their energy costs. At the same time they help relieve the electricity grid and contribute to climate protection.”
The bidirectional 11-kilowatt DC wallbox is designed for home use and supports charging of all electric vehicles with 400-volt and 800-volt technology, and can be adapted to new technical requirements through over-the-air updates. Mercedes-Benz says it is the world's first automotive manufacturer to offer a market-ready solution for bidirectional charging in Germany based on open and standardized technologies, aiming for high interoperability between bidirectional-capable Mercedes-Benz vehicles, charging infrastructure and compatible energy management systems, and relying on open standards such as ISO 15118-20. Using V2G requires the interoperable bidirectional DC wallbox, the Mercedes-Benz Intelligent Pro Eco tariff, the digital extra MB.CHARGE Home Pro and a smart meter, and can be subject to market-specific conditions regarding legislation and the requirements of energy suppliers. The introductory offer is limited until the end of March 2027, after which the specific remuneration follows the conditions then in force.
Previously from Mercedes-Benz
Mercedes-Benz reported record third-quarter 2026 battery-electric vehicle deliveries of 68,400 units, lifting its worldwide EV sales penetration to 16.8 percent. The company said the result was achieved despite contracting deliveries in China.

Why this matters
In Germany, Mercedes-Benz says it is the world's first automaker with a market-ready bidirectional charging solution built on open standards, letting owners earn money from a parked car. The first 500 customers get an introductory wallbox price and a public-charging voucher. The two partners say two million bidirectional-capable cars could avoid nearly half of Germany's renewable-energy curtailment.
