Skoda Auto unveils updated Slavia with segment-first features.
Skoda Auto introduced the updated Slavia saloon for India, adding a segment-first eight-speed torque-converter automatic, rear-seat massage, and an AI-powered infotainment system. The model, first launched in early 2022 under the brand’s “made in India, for India” campaign, has sold nearly 80,000 units. Skoda has led Volkswagen Group operations in India since 2018. The saloon lineup also includes the Octavia RS, with the Superb scheduled to follow in 2027. Skoda has been active in India since 2000. The update supports a localisation strategy that helped the company nearly double deliveries in 2025. The car’s name honours the Slavia bicycles created by founders Václav Laurin and Václav Klement in 1896.

Pony.ai reported second-quarter total revenue of US$36.2 million, up 68.8% year-over-year. Robotaxi revenue rose 691.2% to US$12.1 million, with fare-charging revenue up 849.3%. For the first time, robotaxi accounted for one-third of total revenue. The company says it remains on track to grow full-year robotaxi revenue to more than 3.5 times its 2025 level. Its joint deployment model combines L4 technology with partner rider demand. An agreement with Uber expanded the overseas pipeline beyond 4,000 robotaxis, including plans for over 2,000 in Europe. Robotruck revenue grew 40% year-over-year, and net loss narrowed 14.9% to US$45.4 million.

MAN Truck & Bus received a framework agreement from the German Federal Ministry of the Interior’s procurement office for up to 1,000 TGE vans. The contract covers up to 250 people-carrier vans per year for the Federal Police and state riot police units over four years. First deliveries are slated for this year. The vehicles are MAN TGE 3.180 Kombi people carriers with 130 kW (177 PS) and 410 Nm of maximum torque. Conversion for sovereign tasks, including police-technical equipment, is handled by MOSOLF Special Vehicles GmbH in Kippenheim. The vans will support border protection, federal property protection, railway police duties, and security at major events.

Omega Seiki Mobility will use Electra AI’s monitoring platform to generate State of Health readings and performance signals from its electric fleet. The companies describe the system as a way to identify maintenance needs earlier. Omega Seiki says buyers, funding providers, dealers, and commercial operators could use battery data for warranty considerations, vehicle uptime, residual value, and lending decisions. Electra AI’s platform combines battery models with AI-based monitoring and predictive analysis. The arrangement will also feed operational learning into product development. The partners have not disclosed which vehicle models will be covered. The deployment makes battery condition a measurable data point for commercial fleet decisions.

Einride AB and DAF Trucks announced a joint initiative to integrate Einride’s autonomous driving system, Einride Driver, into DAF’s electric truck platform. The collaboration targets the large-scale commercialization of SAE Level 4 autonomous electric freight. Dutch research institute TNO will contribute expertise to define and test the integration within DAF's International Truck of the Year 2026 platform. Initial interface tests are planned for 2026, followed in 2027 by integration and commissioning of the autonomous driving software. The initiative builds on PACCAR's experience from the North American Autonomous Vehicle Platform program. The partners will work with type approval authorities to ensure future compliance for public road use.

Exicom has started serial production of liquid-cooled AC-DC and DC-DC power modules at Hyderabad after nearly two years of development and about $3.5 million of investment. The hardware is moving from India to the company’s US factory for use in next-generation DC fast chargers and solar inverters. EVSE chief executive Anshuman Divyanshu said the modules can reach 99% efficiency, compared with roughly 95 to 96% for conventional units. Exicom is offering a 10-year warranty, versus about two years for conventional air-cooled modules, while acknowledging the new units currently cost about twice as much to build. The modules are bidirectional and can support future vehicle-to-grid use.

Wayve Technologies has hired Alex Toshev to lead a new general robotics team at Wayve Labs. The team will build a foundation intelligence layer for physical systems beyond self-driving. A Stellantis partnership will integrate the Wayve AI Driver into the STLA AutoDrive platform. The $60 million investment from AMD, Arm, and Qualcomm extends Wayve’s Series D round. BMW will bring updated versions of its 7 Series and i7 flagship sedans to India on September 11. The two sedans receive a new illuminated grille, split headlamps, redesigned bumpers, and slimmer rear lamps. BMW opened Indian bookings on August 1. Inside, the major change is BMW’s Panoramic iDrive projection across the base of the windscreen, paired with 17.9-inch central and 14.6-inch passenger screens. The cabin also adds a new steering wheel, updated ambient lighting, and a 31.3-inch 8K rear theatre display. International versions include a 400hp mild-hybrid 740i xDrive, a 313hp 740d xDrive, and an i7 xDrive50 with a 112.4kWh battery.

Maruti Suzuki says the Fronx has reached 200,000 exports in less than 38 months. The model reached 100,000 exports in roughly 25 months and added another 100,000 in about 13 months. The Hansalpur plant in Gujarat builds the SUV for overseas markets, with shipments reaching nearly 90 countries. Maruti Suzuki says the Fronx has been India's leading exported passenger vehicle since FY2024-25. The company shipped 395,000 passenger vehicles in calendar 2025, exported 17 models to almost 120 countries, and held the top exporter position for a fifth consecutive year, according to company and SIAM figures. The milestone sits inside a broader export push from the Indian manufacturer.

Xpeng says its cumulative French deliveries have reached 6,000 vehicles. The milestone car was a P7+ sedan handed to Pascal Delelis, a 39-year-old generative-AI specialist. The company began selling in France in May 2024 with the G9 flagship SUV and the G6. Xpeng said the latest customer chose the P7+ after comparing its technology, comfort, and driving characteristics. The milestone gives Xpeng a measurable foothold in one of Europe’s larger car markets. The company entered France in 2024 and is using the country as part of its overseas expansion strategy. Cummins Inc. announced that its Power Generation business has been selected to supply battery energy storage systems for a large U.S. data center project. Lucid has announced an updated Gravity SUV lineup for Europe, simplifying the range into four trims: Gravity Touring, Touring Plus, Grand Touring, and Grand Touring Ultimate. MeitY’s components-manufacturing programme will provide ₹145 crore toward Epsilon Advanced Materials’ graphite-anode buildout. That support equals 25% of the planned capital spend, and Epsilon says it was the sole anode-material producer selected in this approval tranche. Epsilon says EAM-ONE, its customer-qualification facility, is already operating in Karnataka’s Vijayanagar industrial area. The programme covers material work, factory processes, and cell-level performance checks using coin, pouch, and multilayer pouch formats. The company says its intellectual-property portfolio contains 43 filings covering materials, manufacturing methods, and production equipment. Across the broader ECMS, 106 projects in 30 product areas have been cleared, representing proposed investment of ₹69,548 crore.

Bombay Logistics has assigned Blue Energy Motors’ gas-fuelled heavy trucks to industrial freight work for JSW Steel around Toranagallu in Karnataka. Blue Energy says its LNG powertrain is aimed at demanding, long-haul work and can deliver fuel-efficiency gains of up to 20% compared with the relevant conventional baseline. Bombay Logistics received help with handover, route planning, and deployment support. Blue Energy puts the avoided carbon dioxide from its vehicles at more than 30,000 tonnes. The company manufactures electric and LNG heavy-duty trucks in India and pairs the vehicles with energy and maintenance support. The deployment is a live test of LNG trucks in repetitive, heavy industrial haulage.
