What Happened
AeroGround, the wholly owned ground handling subsidiary of Munich Airport, is fully transitioning its apron bus fleet to electric MAN Lion’s City E buses. Up to 74 emission-free eBuses will be deployed in the coming years, replacing diesel-powered vehicles. To showcase this shift, MAN Truck & Bus and Munich Airport have launched a six-part social media series called 'Boarding by eBus,' starting with an introductory episode available now.
37buses
With a target of up to 74 electric buses, the fleet will more than double.
The social media campaign features a humorous duo: Patrik, an eager intern ('Patrikant'), and Franz, an experienced AeroGround bus driver. Together they explore the world of electric apron buses, covering topics from charging with CCS connectors to assistance systems. The series aims to highlight the bus driver profession as modern and future-proof, appealing to new talent.
Why this matters
This transition reduces airport ground transportation emissions, improves passenger and worker comfort with quieter operation, and highlights the growing role of electric buses in logistics.
