Stellantis Q3 2026 shipments slip 1% to 1.3 million as Europe EV growth offsets North America decline

Stellantis shipped an estimated 1.3 million vehicles in the third quarter of 2026, down 1% year-over-year, as battery-electric gains in Europe were offset by planned production shutdowns in North America.

Q3 2026 consolidated shipments
1.3 million units
North America Q3 2026 shipments
357 thousand units, down 12%
Enlarged Europe Q3 2026 shipments
588 thousand units, up 10%
Leapmotor-branded Q3 2026 shipments
44 thousand units, up about 34 thousand

What Happened

Stellantis released estimated consolidated shipments for the third quarter of 2026. The company shipped an estimated 1.3 million vehicles in the three months ended September 30, 2026, a decline of 1% from a year earlier. Stellantis defines shipments as the volume of vehicles delivered to dealers, distributors, or directly from the company to retail and fleet customers, which generally drive revenue recognition. The third-quarter 2026 figures are unaudited and may be adjusted.

Q3 2026 consolidated shipments

1,286 thousand units

Down 14 thousand units, or 1%, from 1,300 thousand in Q3 2025.

Q3 2026 vs Q3 2025 shipments by region (thousands of units)
North America
357 vs 404, down 12%
Enlarged Europe
588 vs 534, up 10%
Middle East & Africa
75 vs 95, down 21%

In North America, shipments declined by approximately 47 thousand units, or 12% year-over-year, to 357 thousand. Stellantis attributed the drop primarily to planned production downtime largely affecting certain Jeep models, including the Grand Cherokee and Compass, each decreasing by approximately 25 thousand units year-over-year. The decrease was partially offset by stronger Ram performance, with shipments increasing by approximately 17 thousand units, driven by demand for new and refreshed products and expanded powertrain offerings, including the Ram 1500 light-duty HEMI V8 and the new Ram 1500 TRX.

In Enlarged Europe, shipments increased by approximately 54 thousand units, or 10% year-over-year, to 588 thousand. Growth came from both Stellantis and Leapmotor-branded vehicles, driven by BEV shipments. For Stellantis brands, about 26 thousand units came from Smart Car platform nameplates including the Citroën C3 and C3 Aircross, Opel/Vauxhall Frontera and Fiat Grande Panda, while the new Fiat 500 Hybrid and the new Jeep Compass added approximately 6 thousand and 5 thousand units respectively, and light commercial vehicle shipments rose about 7 thousand units, led by BEV versions. These gains were partially offset by a decline of approximately 28 thousand units in other models, including the Opel Corsa, Opel Mokka, Citroën C4, Alfa Romeo Junior and Peugeot 2008. Leapmotor-branded shipments increased by approximately 34 thousand units to 44 thousand units, supported by the new launches of the B10 and the B03X.

Other regional moves
  • Middle East & Africa: shipments fell approximately 20 thousand units, or 21%, primarily reflecting lower volumes in Türkiye, down approximately 21 thousand units amid weaker market conditions and reduced shipments of imported vehicles ahead of the planned October 2026 launch of local production of small vans.
  • Higher shipments in Algeria and Morocco more than offset lower volumes in the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, which were impacted by the regional conflict.
  • South America: shipments decreased slightly, by approximately 1 thousand units, as growth in Brazil of approximately 13 thousand units on favorable industry conditions was more than offset by lower shipments in other markets, mainly Argentina, down approximately 11 thousand units on weaker market conditions.
  • Asia Pacific: shipments of 15 thousand units declined by approximately 6% year-over-year, primarily on lower shipments in Japan amid weaker market conditions and an unfavorable comparison with prior-year volumes from product launches, partly offset by higher volumes in India, including Smart Car platform vehicles.

Consolidated shipments include only shipments by the company's consolidated subsidiaries, which represent new vehicles invoiced to third parties such as dealers, importers or final customers. With effect from January 1, 2026, Stellantis eliminated its Maserati reportable segment, reporting its shipments consistently with other brands on a where-sold basis, with comparative information restated. The figures include Leapmotor International, a jointly established, Stellantis-controlled company created in 2024 and owned 51% by Stellantis and 49% by Leapmotor, which distributes Leapmotor-branded vehicles outside China.

Previously from Stellantis

Earlier coverage shows some of the pressures behind the quarterly numbers. Stellantis reported 324,277 U.S. showroom deliveries for July to September 2026, matching prior-year volume as a 34% pickup surge at Ram balanced softer passenger-car volume, echoing the Ram momentum that partially offset North American shipment declines. Separately, Stellantis scheduled temporary production halts across four French assembly plants in October 2026, citing delivery constraints for long-range electric vehicle traction batteries alongside targeted inventory management.

Why this matters

Stellantis is one of the world's largest automakers, so its quarterly shipment figures are an early signal of demand before full financial results. Growth in Enlarged Europe, driven by battery-electric vehicles, was offset by a 12% North American fall tied to planned production downtime and a 21% drop in Middle East & Africa. That regional split affects dealers awaiting vehicles, workers at affected plants, and suppliers tied to Jeep, Ram and the Smart Car platform.
