TATA.ev extends Battery-as-a-Service financing to its entire EV line-up
TATA.ev has rolled its Battery-as-a-Service finance option out across its whole electric range, letting buyers move the battery's cost out of the upfront price and into a separate loan.

What Happened
TATA.ev, which describes itself as India's number one four-wheeler EV maker, announced on September 28, 2026 that its Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) offering now covers its entire electric vehicle portfolio. The product was first introduced for the entry-level Tiago.ev and Punch.ev, and is now being extended to the Nexon.ev, Curvv.ev, Sierra.ev and Harrier.ev. The company says the expansion gives customers greater choice and flexibility in how they finance an EV.

“With the EV acceptance and demand growing many fold in the country, Customers demand choices than ever before, not just in the EVs they buy, but also in how they choose to finance them. As BaaS becomes an increasingly visible construct in the EV market, we want to ensure that customers evaluating a TATA.ev have complete flexibility to make a fair and transparent comparison. Extending BaaS across our portfolio gives them precisely that choice. Customers can continue to buy their EV outright, including the battery, or opt for BaaS and lower their upfront acquisition cost. Ultimately, our endeavour is simple: give customers the freedom to choose the solution that works best for them and make the transition to electric easier.”
BaaS is a dual-loan finance product: the cost of the battery is separated from the upfront vehicle acquisition price and financed independently, which lowers the initial cost of acquiring an EV. The vehicle and the battery are financed through separate loan accounts with flexible tenures, and the battery EMI varies depending on battery size, down payment and tenure. TATA.ev has partnered with multiple financiers so customers have more choice in accessing BaaS.
- Applies to entry trims of the respective models
- Assumes vehicle usage of 60 km per day, or 44 km per day in the case of the Tiago.ev
- Charging cost is excluded
- Available for personal users only
- Excludes government statutory levies such as road tax, insurance and TCS
- The same TATA.ev product experience, technology and ownership support
- The option to buy the EV outright, battery included, instead of choosing BaaS
- A battery EMI that excludes charging, maintenance, repairs and other associated costs

Earlier in September, Tata Motors added the all-black Sierra #DARK to its Premium Mid-SUV line, with introductory prices starting at ₹13.99 lakh, and launched the five-variant Sierra Legend Series from ₹11.99 lakh, spreading premium cabin features across more of the Sierra range. Sierra.ev is one of the models now covered by the BaaS expansion.

Why this matters
BaaS lets EV buyers lower the amount they pay upfront by financing the battery separately from the car, and extending it means that choice now exists on every model TATA.ev sells, from the entry-level Tiago.ev and Punch.ev up to the Nexon.ev, Curvv.ev, Sierra.ev and Harrier.ev. Buyers who prefer can still purchase the vehicle outright, battery included, so the change adds an option rather than removing one.
