Volvo CE to close Rokbak business, end articulated hauler production by late 2026
40+ years
What Happened
Volvo Construction Equipment (Volvo CE) has announced the closure of its Rokbak business, which produces articulated haulers under the brand formerly known as Terex Trucks. The company attributes the decision to rising operational and supply chain costs, combined with global trade challenges, which have made continued operation unsustainable. Production is expected to stop in the second half of 2026.
Anticipated production stop of Rokbak articulated haulers.
Expected conclusion of collective consultation process with unions and authorities.
The Motherwell facility in Scotland will remain a key hub for designing and manufacturing Volvo rigid haulers and will drive future product development. Volvo CE says it prioritizes continued support for Rokbak customers and partners during the transition.
Why this matters
The closure ends a four-decade brand and shifts Volvo CE's focus to other hauling solutions, while the Motherwell facility in Scotland continues making rigid haulers.
