What Happened
Ford is upgrading the 2027 F-150 lineup with exterior refinements for an enhanced, tougher look, new BlueCruise hands-free highway driving with towing technology, an updated powertrain lineup, more accessible off-road offerings and the new F-150 Carhartt. XLT, Lariat, King Ranch and Platinum models receive newly designed, distinctive grilles and new wheel designs, an update Ford says was guided by customer feedback asking for a modern spin on a familiar face. Ford credits the F-Series' 49 years as America's truck sales leader to a continuous dialogue between designers, engineers and drivers.
More than 75% of F-150 customers use their truck to tow, and the 2027 F-150 introduces BlueCruise with Towing, which lets drivers travel hands-free while towing a boat, trailer or camper on more than 130,000 miles of pre-qualified divided highways called Blue Zones, available first on the 2027 F-150. Every BlueCruise-equipped 2027 F-150 has access, from XLT and Tremor to Lariat, King Ranch and Platinum, and customers with an active BlueCruise subscription do not pay extra for the towing feature. Ford says it tested thousands of miles of U.S. roads and used its Dynamic Driving Simulator to cover as many trailer combinations and conditions as possible.

New entry-level Tremor and Raptor choices make Ford's off-road trucks more accessible with the same tough hardware and capability at a lower price tag. The entry-level Tremor is STX-based, with an STX steering wheel, manual A/C instead of dual-zone climate control, no heated front seats, a 6-speaker audio system rather than the 8-speaker B&O setup, no off-road running boards and fixed rear glass instead of a power sliding rear window. The entry-level Raptor prioritizes high-performance off-road capability over creature comforts, removing the head-up display, fog lamps, 2 kW Pro Power Onboard capability, Mobile Office package, power passenger seat and under-seat storage, swapping the power-adjustable steering column for a manual tilt column, and stepping down from 14-speaker B&O audio to an 8-speaker system. The 5.0-liter V8 also returns to King Ranch and Platinum for the first time since 2023, making it available across the entire F-150 lineup from XL to Platinum.
The first-ever Ford F-150 Carhartt, available on 4x4 XLT Crew Cab models, expands the collaboration beyond F-Series Super Duty with Carhartt-inspired design, work-ready bed protection and durable interior details. On the exterior it rolls on unique 20-inch wheels with distinctive fender vents and badging finished with the Carhartt logo, a lower rocker and tailgate graphic, signature headlamps, a cowl hood, a modified grille, dual exhaust, off-road running boards and a spray-in bedliner branded with Carhartt. Inside are two-toned Carhartt themed seat covers, updated door trim panels, a center console lid and steering wheel with accent stitching, plus all-weather floor mats emblazoned with the Carhartt logo. Ford and Carhartt describe their multi-year strategic relationship as built on over 250 years of shared Detroit heritage, supporting and investing in the communities where their customers live and work, and the truck is available for order starting today with availability in early 2027.

The F-150 Carhartt starts at $62,660 MSRP plus destination and delivery.
Why this matters
The F-Series has been America's truck sales leader for 49 years, so changes to the F-150 reach a large base of buyers and the many owners who tow. Ford is spreading the new towing-capable hands-free system across BlueCruise-equipped trims rather than reserving it for the most expensive trucks, and the lower-priced entry off-road models and the Carhartt edition widen who the lineup is aimed at.
