What Happened
FORVIA HELLA Ignite and 51Sim signed the memorandum in Shanghai in August. The arrangement combines Ignite's database of traffic regulations with 51Sim's simulation environment so smart-driving systems can be tested against requirements in different markets.
Ignite converts written traffic rules into executable checks and can link a certification decision back to the relevant legal text. 51Sim contributes the virtual scenarios and testing layer, creating a route from a rule to a test result and then to documented compliance evidence.
The initial work is aimed at European certification use cases, including UN R157 and UN R185, as well as Chinese traffic rules. The companies said the collaboration will also cover safety verification, market access, human-machine interaction, and artificial intelligence.
Why this matters
The partnership targets the compliance evidence that automakers need to take assisted-driving systems across borders. It puts European type-approval scenarios, including UN R157 and UN R185, at the center of a workflow that connects rules, virtual testing, evaluation, and certification records.
