PACCAR unveiled PACCAR Connect, a platform with an integrated vehicle display that combines fleet telematics systems, PACCAR truck data, customer-specific productivity applications and Electronic Driver Logs, at the American Trucking Associations' Management Conference & Exhibition in North Carolina. PACCAR Financial Services earned pretax income of $138.1 million in the third quarter, 9.4% above the $126.2 million of a year earlier, on revenues of $558.9 million versus $565.3 million, which the company attributed to steady finance margins and an improving used truck market. The segment has a portfolio of 222,000 trucks and trailers and total assets of $22.5 billion, including PacLease, a full-service truck leasing company with a fleet of 37,000 vehicles; PFS issued $2.38 billion of medium-term notes in the first nine months and supports PACCAR truck sales in 26 countries on four continents. Why this matters
A 44% rise in quarterly net income at Kenworth, Peterbilt and DAF parent PACCAR points to strengthening fleet demand: the company says customers are beginning to refresh their fleets with newer, more fuel-efficient trucks. That matters for the dealers, suppliers and more than 2,000 sales, parts and service locations tied to its brands, and for the parts and finance arms that increasingly carry the profit.
