GAC Group has entered into a technical cooperation pact with Jameel Motors in Cairo to establish local automotive manufacturing in Egypt.

What Happened
GAC Group and distributor Jameel Motors signed an agreement in Cairo to initiate vehicle manufacturing operations within Egypt. Having operated in the Egyptian market since 2023 through imported shipments of models like the EMZOOM and EMPOW alongside the EMKOO and GS4 MAX, the new initiative transitions the brand toward domestic production lines.
Manufacturing will commence with an entry-level sport utility vehicle targeted at younger demographics. Both partners will commit capital and technical resources to upgrade assembly facilities, adapt factory tooling to GAC manufacturing standards, and introduce advanced production training to Egyptian automotive technicians.
In addition to shortening customer delivery cycles and developing domestic parts suppliers, GAC intends to utilize Egypt's geographic position as a regional manufacturing and export hub serving African territories and neighboring Middle East markets.
Why this matters
The venture marks GAC's transition from completed-vehicle exports to in-country assembly in North Africa, designed to reduce delivery lead times and establish a production gateway for surrounding African and Middle Eastern markets. Local assembly also aids Chinese manufacturers in securing tariff advantages and deepening local supply chain integration.
