Kia Uses Apple Vision Pro to Transform Car Design Process
2026
What Happened
Kia's global design teams have adopted Apple Vision Pro, a spatial computing headset, to experience and refine digital design concepts at full scale. This technology enables high-fidelity visualization that lets designers evaluate proportion, perspective, and detail more intuitively. The Vision Meta Turismo concept car, unveiled at Milan Design Week 2026, showcases this new approach.
“We try to see the vehicles we’re designing as real as possible, as quickly as possible – reducing the time from sketch to reality. The fidelity of what can be seen through the Apple Vision Pro head-mounted display means that what has taken months in the past can be reduced to a matter of weeks or even days.”
Apple Vision Pro also enhances collaboration across Kia's global design network. Teams can view the same digital model in a shared virtual space, enabling real-time discussions on lines, surfaces, and colors. This supports Kia's 'Opposites United' design philosophy by blending contrasting ideas like physical and digital.
- Full-scale, immersive visualization of design concepts
- Faster iterative refinement from weeks to days
- Real-time global collaboration in a shared virtual environment
- Frees designers to focus on creativity by making technology invisible
Why this matters
Spatial computing allows designers to refine concepts faster and more collaboratively, reducing the time from sketch to production and making design more human-centered.
