What Happened
Piloted with CRH, a building materials provider.
Available for order on Mack Granite model.
CommandView uses a 360-degree camera system to provide full coverage visibility around the truck, stitching multiple camera feeds into a single bird's-eye view. This significantly reduces blind spots created by high ground clearance, long hoods, and vocational body configurations. Angled side-view cameras activated by turn signals enhance lateral visibility during lane changes and turns.
“Mack customers told us about the many challenges they face when on a jobsite, whether they’re blind spot issues or just maneuvering around other vehicles and objects. Every job site comes with a different set of challenges. We listened to customer input, and we’re now delivering technology that helps improve safety and productivity through CommandView – setting the stage for what’s next in connect”
The system also includes auditory and visual warnings when a person or object is detected in close range, event-based video recording for fleet visibility, and an onboard weighing system for precise real-time load data. Integrated truck-specific navigation ensures compliant routing, and digital job summaries reduce administrative burden.
“Safety is the No. 1 priority at CRH. When we want to innovate in safety, we want it to actually make a difference. We want impactful safety measures. Any tool that we can give our drivers to be more safe, that’s a win. Mack has been the vocational truck of choice. It’s more than just selling us a truck. We rely on them to keep our fleet going.”
Why this matters
This system helps vocational truck drivers navigate tight urban spaces and loading areas more safely, reducing accident risk and operational costs.
