What Happened
Mahindra & Mahindra reported total automotive sales of 103,860 units for July 2026, up 26% from a year earlier once exports are counted. The company described the result as broad-based, spanning passenger utility vehicles, commercial trucks, three-wheelers and overseas shipments.
Utility vehicles remained the anchor of the month. Domestic SUV volumes reached 60,048 units, a 20% increase, and climbed to 60,887 with exports added. Commercial vehicle sales in the home market came in at 25,204 units, a 23% gain, split between light trucks under 3.5 tonnes and a fast-growing three-wheeler line.
“In July we achieved SUV sales of 60048 units delivering growth of 20%. The total vehicle sales stood at 103860, a 26% YoY growth reflecting all-round demand traction across the portfolio.”
- 60,048 vs 49,871 (+20%)
- 3,870 vs 2,763 (+40%)
- 21,334 vs 17,701 (+21%)
- Three-wheelers, including electric models, jumped 53% to 14,538 units and are up 69% for the fiscal year so far.
- Exports grew 47% to 4,070 units in the month and 60% across the year to date.
- Year-to-date utility vehicle sales reached 234,793 units, a 16% rise.
Why this matters
Monthly volume prints are the clearest read on how demand is holding up for one of India's largest automakers, and a 26% rise points to breadth rather than a single hot model. The 20% SUV gain carries the most weight because utility vehicles are the group's profit engine, while a 53% jump in three-wheelers and 47% export growth show the business widening beyond its core.
