What Happened

In Q2 2026, Mercedes-Benz Group sold 511,900 cars and vans, up 2% quarter-on-quarter despite macroeconomic headwinds and softer consumer sentiment in parts of Asia. Outside China, total sales rose 3% year-on-year. Group-wide battery electric vehicle (BEV) sales increased 50% year-on-year to 63,000 units, driven by strong demand for new model launches. Mercedes-Benz expects to sell more cars and vans in the second half of the year compared to the first half, supported by well-filled order books.

Our largest-ever model launch plan is gaining traction. BEV sales rose by more than 50 per cent in the second quarter. Demand for the all-new electric GLC, electric CLA, and electric GLB is exceptionally strong. The new S-Class has made a successful start in Europe, with further regions to follow in the coming months.

Previously from Mercedes-Benz

The updated Mercedes-Maybach S-Class, unveiled earlier this week with electrified engines and the new MB.OS infotainment system, is seeing strong customer orders in Europe, with order books filled for the remainder of the year according to today's sales report.

Background drawn from MotorClaw's earlier coverage of Mercedes-Benz's official releases.

Why this matters

The results show Mercedes-Benz's electric vehicle push is gaining traction, especially in Europe where BEV share nearly doubled to 26% for cars. Outside China, total sales grew, highlighting resilience in key Western markets despite headwinds in Asia. This expands electric choices for buyers as new models like the electric GLC, CLA, and GLB enter markets.
