Scania launches new generation Touring coach with Super powertrain and digital rear-view mirrors

Scania has unveiled a new generation of its Touring coach, adding a sharper exterior, digital rear-view mirrors, a 90 mm repositioned B-pillar and an 8 to 10 percent more fuel-efficient Euro 7-prepared Super powertrain.

What Happened

After years of anticipation, Scania has introduced the new generation Scania Touring, which it calls a milestone in the company's coach offering. The coach combines a contemporary exterior design with better aerodynamics, digital rear-view mirrors and the highly efficient Super powertrain platform. Scania says the new generation builds on a proven product concept while bringing the exterior, passenger environment, driver area and powertrain features to new levels. The Scania Touring has been a vital part of Scania's bus and coach portfolio since its introduction in 2009.

Scania launches the new generation Scania Touring.

What is new on the Scania Touring
  • Contemporary exterior design with advanced aerodynamics, digital rear-view mirrors, full LED lighting and modern materials.
  • A cutting-edge driver area with better visibility and an extended digital Smart Dash interface.
  • Enhanced passenger comfort with less noise and vibration, updated interior design options, new seats and upholstery, improved lighting and wider, deeper staircases.
  • Enlarged luggage compartments and overhead luggage racks.
  • Improved powertrain reliability and increased parts availability.

The redesign is more than visual: improved aerodynamics reduce energy consumption and noise, digital rear-view mirrors contribute to reduced air drag while supporting manoeuvrability and visibility, and the high position of the rear lights makes the coach visible even from a distance. For the driver, the B-pillar is placed 90 mm further back and the front door and side window are updated for noticeably better visibility. Scania also extends the digital Smart Dash interface with a central information display covering functionalities such as passenger infotainment, navigation and the reverse camera, and compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Passengers get wider and deeper staircase steps, redesigned luggage racks and increased luggage compartment capacity, plus Kiel Avance X seats with USB-C ports, new colour and trim alternatives, updated service sets and ambient lighting.

“The new generation Scania Touring is a significant improvement of what is already an advanced and highly appreciated coach. It combines the reliability and energy efficiency that customers expect from Scania with a much anticipated, new Scania-specific design as well as key upgrades in luggage capacity and for the driver and passenger experience.”
— Sundeep Kumar, Head of Portfolio Management, People Transport Solutions, Scania

The Scania Touring is a complete coach offering that brings chassis, body, powertrain, driver area, passenger environment and services together in one solution. A reduced number of parts, improved parts availability and Scania's service offering are intended to help operators keep vehicles on the road and reduce the risk of operational disruptions, which Scania says matters especially in travel operations where vehicle availability directly affects customer experience and business performance. "With the new generation Scania Touring, we have refined the whole vehicle and user experience with a state-of-the art design, improved comfort, efficiency, and uptime," Kumar concludes. Operators can expect the coach to also be introduced on other, recently launched powertrain platforms as part of a phased rollout in which the BEV variant will be first out.

Previously from Scania AB

Scania's recent coach news has centred on efficiency: in late September 2026, the company's Irizar i6S Efficient plug-in hybrid coach won the Sustainable Bus Award 2027 in the Coach category. That award recognised the coach's reduction of fuel consumption by up to 47 percent and CO2 emissions by up to 94 percent. The new Touring generation continues Scania's work on coach efficiency while broadening the range of powertrains it offers operators.

Why this matters

The Touring has been a vital part of Scania's bus and coach portfolio since 2009, so this update reaches the operators, drivers and passengers who use it in daily travel operations. Scania says the Euro 7-prepared Super powertrain typically saves 8 to 10 percent in fuel and emissions and lasts 25 percent longer, which affects running costs and uptime, while a BEV variant will be first out in a phased rollout onto other recently launched powertrain platforms.
