What Happened
Aisin Corporation and its Indian subsidiary AHL have decided to invest approximately 32 billion yen to expand AHL's existing plant in Rohtak, Haryana, and build a new plant in Sambhajinagar, Maharashtra. The decision responds to India's growing auto market and increasing demand for automatic transmissions, as the market shifts from manual-transmission vehicles.
The expanded area of the existing plant, covering about 24,000 square meters, will produce continuously variable transmissions (CVTs), while the new plant on an 86,000-square-meter site will produce automatic transmissions (ATs) and body products. Both sites are scheduled to begin operations in 2029, with an investment of about 16 billion yen each.
