What Happened
Ashok Leyland, the Indian flagship of the Hinduja Group and the country’s leading commercial vehicle manufacturer, announced the ground-breaking of a greenfield battery pack manufacturing facility at Pillaipakkam near Chennai. The project, which will incur an investment of Rs. 400-500 crore, is part of investments from the Hinduja Group per an earlier MOU signed in September 2025. The facility aligns with Tamil Nadu’s Electric Vehicle Policy 2023 and India’s net-zero emissions vision.
