What Happened
The FIA World Endurance Championship returns to Spa-Francorchamps for the Total Energies 6 Hours of Spa on May 9, 2026. Aston Martin's Valkyrie Hypercar, prepared by the Aston Martin THOR Team, scored its third consecutive points finish at Imola with a ninth-place result. The team aims to continue building momentum ahead of the 24 Hours of Le Mans in June.
“Imola was a good start for the 007, and scoring points straightaway on a track we know didn't suit the car is a positive sign. Now we go to the fast and flowing Spa, which is one of the most iconic tracks in the world, and it's a lot smoother which is good for the Valkyrie. We go back this year with a car that we believe can be competitive and we are certainly aiming for points.”
Aston Martin also fields two Vantage GT3 cars in the LMGT3 class, driven by Ian James, Mattia Drudi, Zach Robichon, Dudu Barrichello, Gray Newell, and Jonny Adam. The Vantage has a strong history at Spa, including six class wins and an outright victory at the 24 Hours of Spa in 2024.
Why this matters
The Valkyrie is the only road-derived hypercar competing in both the WEC and IMSA series, and its performance at Spa will be a key indicator of its readiness for the Le Mans 24-hour race next month.
