What Happened
BorgWarner has secured a contract to supply a major North American OEM with an 800-volt secondary integrated drive module (iDM) and a generator module with dual inverter for a series of range-extended electric vehicle (REEV) trucks and SUVs. Production is expected to begin in 2029. The iDM combines an induction e-machine and gearbox, while the generator module pairs a permanent magnet electric machine with a dual inverter mounted to the internal combustion engine for range extension.
