What Happened

BorgWarner will supply its variable turbine geometry (VTG) turbocharger for a major European OEM's hybrid electric vehicle platform. The technology features adjustable, electrically-actuated vanes that regulate pressure upstream of the turbine, enabling near-instant acceleration and maximum power output. The turbocharger is tailored to meet the OEM's size and space requirements, with an updated turbine housing designed to fit packaging constraints and enhance transient performance.

Production of the VTG turbocharger for the HEV platform is expected to begin in 2028.
