CATL and UNIDO set joint agenda for circular battery production
CATL and UNIDO have signed a framework covering batteries, circular industry and green development.
- August 11, 2026
What Happened
In Beijing on August 11, UNIDO and CATL formalised cooperation on circular industry, advanced batteries and green development. Neither organisation disclosed a funding commitment or initial project locations.
The partners will look for examples from CATL’s plants that can be turned into demonstration projects overseas. The work is also intended to support standards-based development and sustainable industrial projects.
The framework combines UNIDO’s industrial-policy and development role with CATL’s industrial battery know-how and clean-power work.
Why this matters
The agreement links CATL’s manufacturing experience with UNIDO’s work on industrial policy and standards. It is a cooperation framework rather than a funded project with a disclosed rollout schedule.
