What Happened
DAF Trucks is expanding its fully electric lineup with new multi-axle models, including 6x2, 6x4, and 8x4 tractor and rigid configurations. These are available for the XD, XF, XG, and XG+ Electric series, which was named International Truck of the Year 2026. The new chassis are designed for specific applications such as heavy-duty distribution and construction, with zero-emission ranges exceeding 500 kilometers.
- FTG and FTN Electric: 6x2 tractors with steered pusher or trailing axle for heavy-duty distribution and EcoCombi applications up to 50 tonnes.
- FAS Electric: 6x2 rigid with trailing axle and 10-tonne load capacity for tippers and demountable containers, GVW up to 28 tonnes.
- FAT and FAW Electric: 6x4 and 8x4 rigids with double driven tandem for construction, GVW 29 and 37 tonnes respectively.

“Naturally, the DAF XD, XF, XG and XG+ Electric with the new axle configurations also feature the same distinctive DNA as the current series of New Generation DAF trucks. As a result, they are also setting the standard in their segment with regard to safety, comfort and ease of use.”
Why this matters
DAF's expansion makes electric trucks available for heavy-duty jobs like construction and long-haul distribution, helping reduce emissions in sectors that have been hard to electrify.
